After Christmas drawing

Hey all,
Ha ha...well, to whoever reads this besides Vicky. ^_~ Don't worry love, I don't mind at all. ha ha.
Well, the holiday is over....Good Lord. Makes me thankful that my family celebrates Channukah. But, as hectic as it was, it was very enjoyable....I spent it with my friends' family, and it was really cool. Personally, I just can't wait until this god-awful season is over. This whole thing has not at all been enjoyable for me. Whatever. -_-;;
Anyways, I hope everyone else had a wonderful and safe holiday. Any cool hauls? Lemme know!

Also, here's some post-Christmas doodling. Weeee!

Deina...SMASH!! Muah ha ha ha! Good times.

Also, another plug for my deviant art account. Go see! I'm having so much fun with it. :3

Happy New Year, all!

Here We Come-a Wassling

Merry Christmas everyone!

Only a few scant days until the most wonderful time of the year. I'm technically Jewish, but it's still a cool holiday. :3
....Except for the rampant commercialism. And being incredibly poor and jobless. That's...that's less awesome.
Anyhoo, just a few updates and blurbs:
~ Thank you to AngelP, I finally opened up a Deviant Art account! It's only got a few sketches and what-not, but take a look here if you're interested. I'm actually working on more stuff! For real! I know! XD
~If applicible, I'm sure everyone has their own family-specific Christmas tradition. My parents, for example, would always play the Nutcracker Suite Christmas morning while we had bagels and locs for breakfast. My own personal tradition, starting waaaay back, was to watch a certain animated special. No, it's not the stop-motion Rudolph, although I never get tired of watching it, it's The Claymation Christmas by animator Will Vinton. I've yet to find a hard copy of it (my Dad taped it for us back in LA), but I don't have a VCR anymore. Thankfully, there's YouTube.
So! For all you animators out there, or just Christmas enthusiasts, here are the links to all three parts of the Claymation Christmas. ^_^

~Part 1
~Part 2
~Part 3

To this day, I'm still blown away by the 'O Christmas Tree' segment, and the 'Carol of the Bells' short always makes me laugh. Rex and Herb are so incredibly expressive, and just the level of detail they go into...!
...Plus, it's got the California Raisins in it!! How could you possibly go wrong? :D
Well, looks like that's all I've got. I'll try and get some more art up ASAP. Until then, Merry Christmas everyone, and have a safe and happy New Year. ^_^

Not much going on here...

Hey everyone~

....*sigh*.....As the title states, there is not much going on here. I feel like jumping in front of a bus if I don't get a job soon....BUT...I guess this is all part of the authentic animation experience, huh? -_-
Well, let's see...I finished Phoenix Wright 3: Trials and Tribulations last week...now that was my idea of a fun Friday night. lol. ^_^ Honestly though, I started playing the last case (which, by that point, I was already in court cross-examining the FIRST WITNESS) at around...oh, noon?
I finished at 2:02 am the next morning. :3 Non-stop, I might add.
SO
I'm on a crazy fan-girl rampage of Phoenix Wright....and even though it'll be a different cast of characters (Odoroki/'Apollo Justice'), I'm still quivering in anticipation for my next bout in court.
And speaking of which....I found this video purely by accident...if you've played any of the games, you'll INSTANTLY recognize the mannerisms of Haruhi, and her totally-does-not-look-like-a-young-Prosecutor-Miles-Edgeworth friend. :P
I'll blog when some more exciting stuff comes up...I'm doing some art...gonna get that done soon....meh.

Blah de blah blah

Hey~

Hmmm....been unemployed for now...this is my fourth week....brain...turning...to......mush. -_-
Bah...this is driving me nuts...I like getting up in the morning to go work....rawr. Asthma getting out of control...might not have enough money to eat....grrrrr. Kinda wish my chosen career path would pick itself up so that I, among with many other people in the same situation, might get a job....bah. Bah I say.

Uuhhh....anyways, got some fun distractions, especially if you happen to be a fan of the Phoenix Wright game series. Now, bear in mind, absolutly NONE of these make sense...I'll help you guys out with the second video.
(I found these videos on a great PW faniste, Court Records. You should go. ^_~ ):

So Long Mr. Turnabout
The opening of the anime "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei" remade with PW characters. You really need to have played all three games to know who everyone is, but...that doesn't make it any less weird. Also, I've never seen the anime it's based off of, so.....have fun. Love the Phoenix run sequence near the end.

To understand this next video, starring the cast of the yet-USA unreleased PW4 (Gyakuten Saiban) you need to watch this video. It makes....very little to no sense, but it's actually pretty funny. Then watch this, the PW version. Sucks that they cut out the last case with the recorder, though. Ha ha ha... :3

"WAAAHHHH!!!! NYAMI!!! WAAAHHH!!!"

Too funny. ^_^
You all take care~

An Artistic Update

Hey everyone~

So...counting down the days until Christmas (or Channukah...whichever), and counting the days that I've been unemployed. -_- It was cool at first to get a break, but now...I'm in a rut. I hate not knowing where my next job is going to come from...I'm just going to apply for something else. Ah well.
Hmm....I haven't blogged in a while, eh? Well, what's new?
~I got to go ride in an ambulance last Sunday because of a reaaaallllyyyy bad asthma attack. LAME.
~I won a one-week 'memebership' at my local Fitness World...today was the first day of it, and wow. I've been waiting for a workout like that. ^_^ If I could afford a membership, I'd be all over it.
~I's gots some drarwin's! Take a look:

My friend got me a Faber Castel brush pen, and this is me having fun with it. ^_^ He's so angry!
This is me attempting a graphic style with one of my characters, Cady. She is very happy.

In any case, I'm going to go and put them on my portfolio as well...be sure to check it out, you potential employers, you! :3

Anyhoos, that's about it. Fairly quiet, everything considered. Well, maybe except for the absolute crackhead weather we got on the weeked...crazy blizzards for two days, then it shoots up to 12 degrees from the Pinapple Express, and rain and flood and...yeah. o_O;; Well, I heard this is supposed to be the coldest winter in fifteen years, so bust out those scarves and mitties everyone!

Take care guys~

IM in ur studio...

....beggin 4 a jobz. -_-;;;

Well, it's official...as of Friday, I am an unemployed shmo. WAH. After all the kicking and screaming I did...well...there's nothing you can do about a shortage of work, right?
Well, moving on, let's take a look at an exciting recap of events, shall we? Like...

~The release of Rock Band! Woo! I know I want one! :D
~My friend and former VFS-er Michelle got married on Saturday! Michelle, Tzanko...shine on, you crazy diamonds! Congratulations!!
~Again, promoting my art blog...ye-haw....lol.
~This....I saw this on Joystiq.com, and it nearly made me cry. It's a lovely little story centered around the Gamecube smash-hit Animal Crossing. (The music playing is the piano version of 'To Zanarkand' from Final Fantasy X). Go tell your Mama and/or Papa that you love them. <3

Y'know, I thought I had a lot more to talk about, but I guess not. :S Ah well.
Have a great week, everyone!

I'm making a note here...

....Huge success....

....Well, okay, I'm not sure if it's a success yet. We'll have to wait and see. (Any of you Portal fanboys will get the title joke. :3 )

I've made an art/portfolio blog! It's just called Kelly's Portfolio....I'm going to continue to post piccies and doodles on Tea Time, but the other one is just more 'professional.' Hoping to grab some employment...my contract ends tomorrow, and it's depressing and stressful as hell not having a job.
Around Christmas time.
When your computer monitor dies.
....And your fish tank starts acting up.

....Yeah. In any case, it's out of my hands...all I can do is try.

Hmmm....what else....well, aside from imminent joblessness, I've been totally digging Team Fortress 2 out of Valve's Orange Box. I play on my friends' boyfriends' computer when I go over....I can't wait to get a copy for myself. Pyro is my best friend, especially when certain people *wink* play as spies.....BEWARE MY FLAMES (AND SHOTGUN) OF JUSTICE!! ^_^
Playing Persona 3....saw Pixar's Ratatouille on Monday....amazing. Absolutely stunning....Brad Bird, sir, you have done it again. A must buy for anyone, animation enthusiast or not.
Hmmm....well, aside from some exciting news that I don't think I have the authority to divulge, nothing else....
Keep it real, all you dawgs! :3

~Cady

PS - Feel I should do some comic plugs....
~ Josh Lesnick's Girly is great. Still. Drop whatever you're doing and go read Girly!
~ F@nboy$ by Scott Dewitt is teh awesome. This man has a great sense of volume for his characters. Did I mention it was also funny?
~This one is great....a haven for SSB geeks, and people who just think Link is the cutest thing ever....Awkward Zombie!
~This one....Rice Boy....I'm not even sure what to think of it, but it's just so....interesting. Really neat graphic style, and the story just sucks you right in. A beautiful tale of saving the world, even if it doesn't seem like it's worth it...

Happy reading!

What are the haps my friends

Happy Friday, all~

Payday is a bittersweet thing. Or, to say, it would be sweeter if we didn't have those, ya know, 'responsibilities.' :3 Like, technically, I could buy that Xbox 360 I've wanted for several months, and just not pay any bills. And rent. Pssshhhht. ^_^

Hmmm....what is going on....Oh! First off, the list of the ten 'animated' films (and I use the term VERY loosely) in the running for the Acadamy Awards has been released. Some of the choices (*cough*Beowulf*cough*) make me (*hack*AlvinandtheChipmunks*wheeze*) want to curl up on the floor and cry. Others, like Persepolis, Ratatouille, and Tekkonkinkreet make me very happy. ^_^
Place your votes, ladies and gents! And God help us all if Aqua Teen Hunger force takes the cake. I, among with the entire artistic community, will declare animation officially dead.

“Alvin and the Chipmunks”
“Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters”
“Bee Movie”
“Beowulf”
“Meet the Robinsons”
“Persepolis”
“Ratatouille”
“Shrek the Third”
“The Simpsons Movie”
“Surf’s Up”
“Tekkonkinkreet”
“TMNT”

Hmmmm...speaking of animation (of a different variety), I stumbled across the news that two gaming franchises (one prominent, one an underground cult hit) will be getting their own animated feature/series, respectively.
The first will be the long-loved Castlevania series. I have NO idea what it's supposed to be about, but you can look at the fledgeling production blog here.
Second, and by far my personal favourite, is going to be SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: PERSONA!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I've played every SMT game for the PS2, and even own the original Persona for the PS1. They are my all-time favourite RPG series. Yes, I love them even more than Final Fantasy.
And I like my Final Fantasy.
I found the news on 1Up.com, and this is actually going to be a series based ten years after the events of Persona 3. I am unfortunately not that long into the game (full-time work will do that), but it's a phenomenal gaming experience. Seriously. Go out and buy it. RIGHT NOW. ^_^
But really....I wonder what they're going to do with it?

That's about all I've got right now...Keep it real, ladies and gents - I gotta go work on my demo reel. Job ends next Friday....*sigh* I wanted to grab that special ed. of Assassin's Creed. Maybe another time, Altair. :3

My adventures in fighting crime (a week later)

Happy Hallowe'en, everyone! Have a safe and fun night tomorrow.

I want to tell a story. This happened actually about a week ago, while I was on the way to Daiso for the first time.
This is a story of where my friends and I fought crime.

My three other friends and I all met at a store in New Westminster, and proceeded to go up to the Skytrain station where it all began. As we were coming up, a man walked by/up to us and nearly tripped one of my friends. He gave a lame apology and kept walking. We just figured he was an asshole, but shrugged it off and went up on the platform.
We were all standing up on the platform and waiting for the train, and I was standing a little further out from my friends. The same guy walks up to me, stops, and says: "EXCUSE ME, miss."
Now, nevermind the fact that there was plenty of room around me, but whatever...I said sorry, and moved to let him pass.
We get to the next station over (22nd Street) to catch our bus. While we were waiting, I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the same guy was walking towards us. I got a very bad feeling...
Now, at this bus stop with us were two people: a tiny, elderly asian woman, and an older asian man, well dressed, and on his way to the airport. So this jackhole walks up to the little old woman first, and the first thing he does is scream - literally - in her face: "WHAT'S YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM?!" Needless to say, the poor woman was terrified, so she shuffled away. He walks on to the bus stop next to us, and we can hear him shouting at other people as well. He makes his way back to us, where he walks right up to me (about five inches away from my face), takes a drag of his cigarette, blows it in my face, and says "Hey, if you wanna suck my dick, I'll be standing right over there."
What a charmer, eh?
I reply back "Yeah sure, I'll get in line." And with that he walks away. He returns briefly to accost the asian man waiting for the bus by exclaiming that he 'has a problem with him,' and that the idiot thinks he's 'a faggot.' Again, I know, what a hunk...why didn't I jump him right then and there? :s
By the time he came back to harass us, one of my friends was already on the phone with the police. Buddy comes and stands pretty much right beside me and shouts at the top of his lungs: "WELL, I GUESS I'LL SIT NEXT TO YOU FINE, UPSTANDING CITIZENS!!" He sits down on the bench at the bus stop, and crosses his leg so....brusquely that he kicks me right in the leg! By this point, I'm super choked. I turned around and yelled at him "Hey, you're a real asshole, you know that?!" Being the gentleman that he is, he tips his sunglasses down and says he's sorry.
Yeah right.
At this point, he caught on who exactly my friend was talking to. He yelled at him and shouted that 'he was just waiting for the bus to the airport, you fucking homosexual,' and that he 'didn't know what everyone's problem was.' Another of my friends fired off by saying "Good! I hope you get on a plane and get out of Vancouver! I hope you never come back to Canada!" He looks at her and replies "I'm not leaving Vancouver! In fact, no one is!"
Unfortunatly, his bus pulls up, and we never see him again. We end up talking to the Skytrain cops, but the funny thing was that while I was telling one officer what happened, he kept stopping me to listen to his radio....coincidentally enough, there was an situation at the next station over...I gave my description, the cops ran off, and that was that.

Heh heh heh....or so we thought. :3

I get a call while we were on the way back from Daiso; it was the officer I spoke to earlier. He told me that the guy who was harassing us was arrested. Surprise, surprise - the commotion over at the next station was the same guy. Jeez....what a winner.

So, (to trim some time off), the next day, that same police officer comes over to my place to give me the forms to write out a real, formal, police statement of what happened. He proceeded to tell me in greater detail of what happened after we left:
By the time the two cops showed up at Edmonds, some Skytrain attendants were already there detaining him. Apparently, this jackass actually started harassing another young woman on the train. He threatened her to the point where she was bawling; she was literally in tears because she was so afraid of this psychopath. So another guy on the train with his two kids confronts the wacko, telling him to leave the poor girl alone. Long story short - well, you can guess what the dumbass did, and the father literally had him in a headlock and hucked him off the train like a sack of potatoes.
At the police station, he is no more cooperative. In order to photograph and fingerprint him - well - have you ever tried to give a cat medicine? Like how you have one person holding the cat, another its head, and finally someone administering the meds? Yeah. That's how helpful this dumbshit was. Oh wait - it gets better.
The first thing this gold medalist does when he was put in a holding cell?
He undresses, puts his clothes in a corner, and pees on them.
What a swell guy, huh?

Basically, this guy was bipolar, as the officer continued to explain to me. That did not make me feel sorry for him in any way, shape or form, but now I understand that he wasn't just a total fucktard; he actually had a problem. The cop said that I shouldn't be surprised if I get a subpeona to appear in court within the next six weeks.

Thus, my tale drew to a close. Frankly, I disdain ANY man who preys on young women, or just women in period. Honestly, it was almost laughable; like something out of a movie, or a bad episode of COPS. You just...you've just never seen such insane behavior out of anyone before! So this guy probably isn't in jail anymore right now, but I just hope I can do my part, and someone can do us all a favour and stick a needle in his arm. Yeesh.

Remember to be extra vigilant while on public transit, ladies! Avoid wearing headphones, and have your cellphone close at hand.

The Final Four

Ha ha ha....man, that sounds too dramatic. *_*

I'm doing 'the Four' of of Michelle Clement's blog...go check it out! (Hey Michelle, if you're reading this, how do you hyperlink?)

Okay, let's see!

4 Jobs I've had:
1. Famous Players Operations....uh...player: Yeah....I worked there for 2 1/2 years...fun, but too immature. And shutting down booth at 1 am is SCARY AS HELL. lol.
2. Night-shift construction at Save-on-Foods: Worst. Job. EVER. I was miserable, exhausted (I worked 12 am - 8:30 am), was sexually harassed, and berated by everyone. SUCKED. ASS.
3. Tim Hortons: I worked there for a total of 48 hours before I quit. Just couldn't do it.
4. Animator: Woo! I'm on my second show and second studio. Let's keep the ball rolling!

4 Movies I could watch over and over:
1. Anchorman (Please don't ask me why)
2. Princess Mononoke (actually, almost any Miyazaki, come to think of it :3)
3.
4.

4 TV Shows I watch:
1. House (thanks Laurel!)
2. America's Next Top Model (cycle 9 isn't as intersting...)
3. Law & Order: SVU (What?)
4. Almost anything on the Women's Network (Don't say anything.)

4 Houses I've lived in:
1. A Best Western for 2 months when we came to Canada
2. Two in Mission
3. A nice two-bedroom in Burnaby
4. My new ground-level suite in Burnaby

4 Favorite Foods:
1. Chocolate
2. Most japanese food
3. I'm really starting to dig both mango and Barlett Pears....
4. REAL Jewish chicken soup

4 Favorite Colors:
1. Teal
2. Red
3. Blue
4. Green

4 Places I'd love to be right now:
1. At home, sleeping (I concur, Michelle)
2. In Japan.
3. In either Scotland or Florance, Italy
4. Shopping. (I concur again.)

4 Names I love but could/would not use for my children:
1. Either Helga or Olga. It only worked for 'Hey! Arnold!'. Don't do it unless your daughter looks like a troll.
2. No 'magical fairy princess names', like Jasmine, or Starfire, or something dumb like that. This is reality, not an episode of Rainbow Brite.
3. For some reason, I like seasonal names....Winter, Summer, Autumn...I heard of a girl named Sunny. Very cool.
4. Hannah. I dunno...haven't met a Hanna[h] that I liked.

Now you know a bit more about me. :3

A lengthy review, among other things

Hello everyone,

First off, to all you gamers out there, I'm sure you've LONG heard the news by now:

SONIC IS IN SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL!!!!
(By the way, this picture is NOT mine...it belongs to 'Digibucket' and her blog 'The Shoebox.')

I am SO psyched about this...finally, almost 17 years of being a Sonic fan have paid off! And now Bioware is going to be releasing a REAL Sonic RPG sometime in 2008? There is a God! ha ha ha...
I am well aware that I am totally geeking out...oh well. :3

Next up, time for a game review!

Luminous Arc
by Atlus Inc., Nintendo DS, $39.99

Okay...I honestly didn't think much of it when I first got it. The only reason I bought it was because I wanted to get back into grove of tactical RPGs (I do own both Disgaeas, but I haven't played either one). While Luminous Arc does have it's flaws (like lagging...bad memory management. :S ), and being able to rotate the map would've been nice, and the fact that this game was NOT meant in any way for the stylus. Seriously, if you play this game, do yourself a favour and just switch it to D-Pad controls...you'll thank me later.
Luminous Arc follows the story of Alph, his little brother Theo, and a small cast of characters called the 'Garden Children'. The game takes place in a world where they, like many other people, are in service of the Luminous Church, the worlds' most powerful religious order. Legend says that their 'God', Zehaal, fought beings called 'the Witches' (along with dragons), and the world crumbled...the Witches were cast away, and Zehaal was put into a thousand year-long slumber.
The Witches are beings with something in their bodies called 'rune'...Witches are the only people in the world that can cast magic. There is a witch for each element: fire, water, nature, wind, thunder, light, and dark. Now, in classic Cristian satire, the Witches were the personification of the utmost evil in the world, and that Zehaal loved all, blah blah blah...
After meeting Lucia, the Dawn Witch, Alph begins to really see the world, and the Luminous Church, for what it really is....
I won't give away any more than that...the twists are actually quite good, so go play the game if you want to find out. ^_~
But yeah..fun, easy to learn battle system, lovable characters, and a surprisingly mature and thoughtful storyline.
I give this guy....8 out of 10. :)

Hmm...what else...Oh! Got some exciting and interesting news....I was contacted by the 'Content Manager' of Aniboom (www.aniboom.com), and she asked me to submit my film into their festival! She said I 'have a very good chance of winning.' Wow! Even if nothing comes out of it, my film was asked to be put in a festival! I'm really excited!

Ha ha...not much else going on....Still looking for a job when this one ends...*sigh* Fierce competition. :S

Later folks...I've got a cold to get over. -_-

Update

Okay, first off.....

In a stroke of brilliance, I realized I didn't actually post the Three-Legged Legs website. DUR.

That's done. Now, another update and experiment after this, because I am SO bad at posting videos for....well, some reason. :S

Animation Delivery

Hello all,

Sometimes, I forget that while I enjoy many other things, I also enjoy animation. Y'know...it is kinda my job. :3
Anyways, I'm also a gamer. When the two worlds collide, it becomes a veritable symphony of joy. On that note, any good gamer will at least have heard of Valve's new child, Team Fortress 2. My friend showed it to me at her house, and...wow. I'm not big on FPS', but...oh boy. Me want this game.
Aside from the rocking character designs, Valve has put out three promotional shorts featuring three separate characters/classes you can play as. The animation is solid, and the acting is phenominal!
....In my unprofessional opinion, anyways.

Here's Meet the Soldier:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu28ECSLy_E&NR=1

Here's Meet the Engineer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i68cEsALWt0&mode=related&search=

And here's Meet the Heavy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY5qJHZCz2I&mode=related&search=

Finally, here's a non-gaming related link to the showcase room of a studio called Three Legged Legs. I came across them after a short they did called Samurai (SO CUTE!! I highly recommend this one), and here's some more of their stuff. They've got a good head on their shoulders.

In any case, enjoy!
And seriously, for all TF2 players - Nerf the Scout.

Cartoon Skeletal System Study

Hey all,

Just a quick blog at work - my friend sent this to me....Apparently someone took 22 popular cartoon characters, and, as he said:

"...I thought I would dissect them like science does to all living objects - trying to come to an understanding as to their origins and true physiological make up."

These studies are, in my opinion, amazing. But go ahead and judge for yourself.

Important News Bulliten

Hello everyone!

My goodness...it's been how long since my last post? o~_~o
Heh heh...whoopsie-daisy. Been awfully busy with unpacking, work, and the like.... :S

Anyways, onto the juicy stuff - first of all, Happy Halo 3[-ing] to any of the eager participants! I hope your midnight campout was as much fun as you had hoped...Of course, I'm sure playing the actual game will be much more enjoyable. ^_~

Man, I gotta get myself an Xbox 360....

Hmmm....what else? Oh...Due to the unfortunate situation we're all in called reality, I had to break the news to my dear friend that I cannot accompany her on her trip to Israel. For as much planning as I did, there's just no way I can safely afford it, plus my job ends around that time, so...yeah. It was just too risky. ;_____; Believe me, it really sucked.

....Y'know, I thought I had more stuff to talk about...I'm sure it'll come to me soon.

Happy wint--I mean, autumn, everyone....those in the Vancouver area will know what I'm talking about. ^_~

All my internets were hacked at once!

Ha ha ha....no, nothing was hacked. I just said that because it was funny. :3

Jhimminey...this will be my first blog post from my brand new place! lol! I've techincally had internet since Wednesday evening, but...wow. My computer put up a big fuss about being moved...^_^;;; My old net signal was always obtained through a wireless router, but after I moved, my ethernet connection was disabled and completely non-functional. Basically, it turned into 'I need the driver for the network adapter so I can get on the internet, but I need to get on the internet to get the driver.' On top of that, Windows decided it needed to be re-activated (we're assuming because I now have a different IP address.)
Then, on top of that, my newly obtained Playstation 2 decided to turn my brand new copy of Persona 3 into ground beef....;_______; That totally sucked.

Saturday was not a good day for technology.

BUT - I grabbed the appropriate driver from Anat, and my friend Sid said he'll see what he can do about replacing my poor game and system...so everything's looking up. ^_^

The new place is also really cool...I'm still getting used to all these weird sounds and whatnot...lol. Extreme paranoia + living alone + ground floor suite =.......o_O;;; But, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Honestly, it's so...nice to abide by my own schedule. On the weekends, I can sleep in, go for a run in the park nearby, shower, and eat breakfast at my own leisure. I'm sure I'll start getting lonely really soon, but I know I have a few wonderful people that I can invite over at any point. ^_^ Now, as for entertaining, some chairs to go with my dining room table would be nice.... :3

Peace out, all~

Done and Done

Hello all~

Gonna make this quick; I'm at work right now, but....

move successful!!

Woo! Yeah, I've finally got my own place now! It's SO COOL! A little weird....I've never really lived by myself, plus I'm on the ground floor, right by the front door. So it's a pretty high traffic area....I suppose it's natural to be a little paranoid, right? But, I'm in a good area (or so I'm told), so I'm trying not to let it spoil my fun.

I've got people coming into my place today to a)Replace the curtains, b) replace the linolium on the kitchen, and c) give me the powers of teh interwebs. :D Waah! So much going on....but I wouldn't change it for anything. ^_^

What time is it?

ADVENTURE TIME!!

Oh technology, how we love thee

All-righty,

Since web design is such a gem, I'll repost that Bioshock video...I'll only do the url; I'm not in the mood to fight with these things right now. ^_^;;

Enjoy, and Welcome to the Cult of Rapture.

The End of the Road

Hey all,

Wow, Friday the 31st....today I get the keys to my new apartment. Wacky! It's a short move, and I'm by myself for the first two days, :( but at least my Daddy and Stepmummy are coming out on Sunday to help me. On that note, thank you so much three day weekend! *sigh of relief*

The more time I have to get settled, the better. ^_^

So yeah....I'll be dismanteling my computer tonight, so nothing for at least a few days, so I just wanted to leave you with some lovely parting gifts.

I drew this last week at D&D....my character, Deina, is the big one - she's not really that big (she is only an elf, after all), but Ariel, the one on her leg, is the mage....during battle, since I'm the meat shield/heavy hitter, she casts 'giant size' on me. That spell is so much fun....lol. Yay mayhem! From the top is Unis ie. Kiyamo and Dyonisis (Dee), his giant celestial wolf, Nai ie. Silver Fox, our skirmish archer, and Kaya ie. Ariel, our mage. (Our characters have aliases because we're always being pursued...lol).

Second, for all you gamers out there, here's the heartwarming meeting of the first time you encounter a Little Sister and her over-protective co-hort, the Big Daddy. Awwww.

Peace out, all.

Love, Cady

AE 2007, among other things

Hello everyone,

My goodness...sorry for the lack of posting. Things have been unbelievably crazy around here...I'm finally moving (my new place is nice and close...ya easy move!), so on that note, my net will be back up...Sept. 6. So nothing until then. =(
Oh, the title? What is 'AE', you ask? Well, that would be Anime Evolution 2007! Anime Evolution is an anime convention held up in the spacious and beautiful Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. It's a massive three-day event containing everything from cosplayer competitions, karaoke, a huge dealers room, speakers panels, guests stars (artists, prominent voice actors, etc), concerts, and, of course - lots and lots of anime. ^_~
I've been to the last...three, I think. Three or four, I can't remember. :S They're always a ton of fun - you see some of the strangest, but always nicest people, along with their sometimes crappy, or sometimes AMAZING costumes!
This year, after much scrounging (and thank you so much to my friend Shari) we finally got a table in the esteemed 'Artist's Alley'! AA is a little section where you hawk off your home-made wares - posters, prints, figures, books/bookmarks, t-shirts, dresses....whatever! Anything goes! This year, I did something a little different - custom-made, home-made, and hand-frosted cookies!

Here's the Prince of the Cosmos, along with his trusty katamari, from the game series Katamari Damacy...

Here's the 'logo' from Full Metal Alchemist....

And here's Ichigo's hollow mask from Bleach. I made a few others, but I don't feel like posting the photos right now. :3 While they were very time-consuming, they were a ton of fun to make, and they sold pretty well! These are something I would totally do again, even for a different occasion! :D

I mentioned guest starts, right? Well, both Anat and myself got to meet Scott Ramsoomair of VG Cats! (http://www.vgcats.com/ ). Anat was lucky enough to get a photo with him, and an autographed 'best of' book, and I got an autographed poster. Scott is super-friendly (Canadian too!) and really seemed to get a kick out of Vancouver. Hope to see you again, Scott!

Lastly, I'll post some of the good costumes, just because they're too good to pass up:

Captain Jack Sparrow, anyone? (He even did all the weird, flow-y body movements...this guy was good!)

Sora (R) and Roxas (L), his Nobody, from Kingdom Hearts 2...

Jesse and James from Team Rocket (Pokemon)....

Deedlit, the high elf from classic (one of my first!) anime Record of the Lodoss Wars....

And the 'Main Character' from Persona 3! A big thank you to Anat for flagging her down for a photograph. ^_^

Anyways, I've blabbered on long enough....I've got lots more photos, but I've taken up enough room. And yes, I'm totally not ashamed to be hanging around with these people. Ha! :D

Take it easy everyone~

Hooray for drawings...?

Hey all,

Well, after making all these drawings, I have finally scanned one in! This won't be a normal practice; I'm moving, so I'll need to buy a scanner. But, in the meantime, we fought this guy in last Tuesday's Dungeons & Dragons campaign. My character has a new battleaxe (while she's getting her anchor enchanted), but it's just not as good. 'Specially against FAT. Eeeew.

*whew*!

Wow, I never knew I could be this busy....

First of all, George is a rap next Friday (Aug. 10)....For as much as I'm pretty sure I've lost years of my life, I wouldn't trade this experience for the world...I met the most amazing people, and I learned so much. A pre-emptive thank you and I love you to all my Studio B folk!

Next, I'm moving! Yup! Time for a change of pace and location. Let's see what I can come up with....

....and while speaking of a change of pace, the following Monday I'm starting at Bardel! No break from the beating of George, but that's okay. I'll have my nice maple tea to keep me happy....

....Oye. So much to do.

And, for once, I'm actually drawing for pleasure again! Let's see if I can actually get this one up too....lol.

Chow, guys.

I don't know much about this anime, but the ending dance sequence is a great piece of animation.

PERSOOONNNNAAAA!!!

Ha ha...inside joke to whoever's played any of the games. :3

Here's an animated video from the new Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 that's coming out...whenever. Ugh. They've pushed the release date back so many times I'm just going to wait until my EB calls me.... :S

Fierce and Fabulous

After eight grueling weeks of photoshoots, industry networking, heels, and bitch-fights, the one to come out on top is......

REBECCA!!!

Hells yeah. I really wanted either Rebecca or Tia to win; definatly not Tara, and Sinead...well, she's so good damn nice that I wanted it for her too.

Ha ha ha...for as much as I pride intelligence, we're all allowed our guilty pleasures. :3

Way to go girls, and good luck on being Canada's Next Top Model! Woooo!!!

Sad but True

Hello, guys~

There's this webcomic that I started to frequently read, called Daily Dinosaur Comics. They use minimalist art (the same six panels for every comic), but the writing is just AWESOME.

This one I thought was an interesting topic; not only because it applied to animation, but because...well, it's a nice overview on how humans view 'perfection.'

http://qwantz.com/archive/000848.html

Also, I highly recommend you wiki the term 'uncanny valley'....

Interesting stuff. :3

End of my rope....

...Or should I say, end of my jungle vine....hmmm.

Forgive me, for it has certainly been a long while since my last update. These last....three weeks now have been too tumultuous for me to withstand easily. I won't go into a pity party, but a quick overview...

1) BOYS ARE DUMB. 'Nuff said.

2) George is quite the cruel and demanding mistress. Don't get me wrong, I adore working on this show (BTW - On every day on Teletoon @ 8 am and 4:30 pm!), but...my goodness...I'm thankful there are only a few weeks left. ^_^;;;

3) ....I don't know. I feel, just, well...used up. All dried out; hollow; a husk....I honestly don't know what to do with myself. I've found that I've just been floating around for the past few days, and frankly, I don't care. I just don't care anymore...I've had enough.

Meh. Whatever. To top it all off, I'm sitting at home, totally drugged out on Tylenol 3...I spent my Friday night getting my wisdom teeth removed. I am the center of the cool universe. :3 lol
A nice steady diet of cream soup, Ensure and Jello is more fun than I thought. lol

Well, yeah...that's all I got. I'm sure my bad mood will pass; it always does, but....ah, nevermind. I'm not bold (or stupid) enough to post thoughts that intimate online. :P

Peace out, yo~

Heart for a Hero

Hello everyone~

I thought all the gamers (or whoever reads this stupid thing...^_^;;; ) would get a kick out of this:
http://kotaku.com/gaming/i-can.t-talk%2C-don.t-ask-me/clip-zelda-heart-for-the-hero-271709.php

While this is a brilliant take on the 'silent hero' bit, it makes you wonder why. Why are they mute? And why are they all so damn lovable? Link, Chrono (Chrono Trigger, for all you old-skoolerz), even Dr. Gordon Freeman (Half Life). They're all such memorable, iconic characters - yet none of them have spoken a single word.

Any thoughts? :)

Enjoy!

How time flies....hoo hum. ^_^

Hello, sweeties~

*sigh* My goodness! It's been a while since my last update, hasn't it? ^_^;;;

Work, as much as I absolutly love it, is quite the uphill battle....c'mon Cady! Only about...oh, what - seven more weeks to go?
Speaking of which - ATTENTION ALL ANIMATION ENTHUSIASTS! GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE IS PREMIERING ON JULY 2ND!!
It's at 4:00 on Teletoon; channel 50.
Viva Studio B!

Hmm...what else....
Oh....I know. :3

After much too much time of being single, I now have, well...a special someone to share my time with. o^_^o
I won't give out details, because that's mean, but....wow. I'm still kind of in shock, actually. He really makes me happy, and we've only been dating since last Wednesday. I honestly can't wait to see where this goes. :3

Oh! Right! Art!
I still need to get my ass in gear and post those drawings....hmmm. I'll definatly try to do that.

Hmmmm.....oh! Yesterday was my official 'getting old' day....I'm now at the ripe ol' age of 22. Hee hee. It's all downhill from here! First your back, then your hearing, then your eyesight....*sigh*. lol

And last but not least, congratulations to CA64!! Your guys' films were amazing!! I wish you all the best, and all the luck in the world in your future endeavours. :D

Extra Taggege

Hello, dears....

I have been tagged. Basically, I say seven random facts about myself. I don't talk about myself that much (at least I hope I don't!), so here goes:

1) I have vices and guilty pleasures just like everyone else, and mine are unfortunatly....really, really girly. :P I absolutly adore America's/Canada's Next Top Model, and I firmly believe that Tyra Banks should be the president of the United States. :)

2) I owned a hedgehog for almost two years. His name was Sonic (after my childhood hero...^_^), which was funny because he was fat and MEAN as hell. :3

3) I get so scared at some movies and games (like Silent Hill 4) that they make me cry.

4) My absolute, most favouritist pizza in the whole wide world is: prawns, goat cheese, and sundried tomatoes with pesto (preferrably homemade) on a whole-wheat crust. Yum! :P

5) I am part of the first 'female-only' Dungeons & Dragons group in.....probably the city. :3

6) One time, a rent-a-cop mistook me for a hooker when I was waiting for my ride home from work. I was still in my Famous Players uniform. o_O;;;

7) I took Aikido for a year when I was seventeen. Now, I'm in bellydancing, of all things. ^_^

Well, I'm not sure if I did that right, but...there you go! Little-known facts about me! I'm not terribly exciting, though. Sorry! ;P
Also, I want to mention that music I'm totally diggin' is a band called Avenged Sevenfold. I don't usually do....uh, "rock," but these guys are awesome! I recommend Strength of the World and the Beast and the Harlot. Great songs. Super hardcore. :3

Bye, all~
Back to work!

Hello, ladies and gents.

Yoikes....sorry it's been so long since I've blogged....been a busy couple of...weeks? I don't even know anymore. :P

Hmm....still waiting for Loreena McKennitt photos...gotta ask Laurel about that.

Working my butt off to finish this episode on time....

Hmm....good news! George has gone live!!
Check out everyone's favourite King of the Jungle here on 'The Lab'....Mr. Kevin Gamble was the guy who hired me. :3

Meet me at the Caravanserai

I was a bad girl...I took Friday off to go to lovely Victoria to see one of the single most influential musicians in my life...

Ladies and gentlemen...Loreena McKennitt.

It was such an amazing experience, and having Laurel there to share it with me meant so much more.
Even with the Greyhound strike, Pacific Coach Lines (the bus route we took) was great. The entire traveling portion of the trip went without a single hitch....the bus left on time, rolled onto the ferry, got off, and dropped us in Victoria.
The downtown core was stunning, to say the least...(Don't worry, Laurel got tons of photos. :D ) We got to Keith's place no problem (Dad, I don't know what you're talking about....Keith's place is in a fine neighbourhood!), unloaded our stuff, took a nap, then headed out.
We went to this awesome Irish pub before the concert to grab something to eat...what a place! The building was gorgeous, and the food and the atmosphere were great! They had live Celtic music downstairs! How cool is that?!
Afterwards, we walked a few blocks to the 'McPherson theatre.' I kept on telling Laurel that this really didn't look like the right area...it was kinda dumpy for a theatre. So, we went inside to ask the guy, and he was like "Oh, Loreena McKennitt! She's at the Royal McPherson Theatre!"
....So, after walking about eight blocks (my first time in stiletto heels, by the way...ow.), we get to this theatre that is literally a castle. It was just stunningly beautiful.
We get inside, take our seats, and realize that we drastically brought down the average age group of the entire theatre crowd..(everyone was at least 35-40+...it felt a bit odd.) But, she came on, playing the harp, and opening up with She Moved Through the Fair. I warned Laurel beforehand, but I just couldn't help the tears that ran down my face....I was just so happy to be able to see this. Not to mention that the seats I bought were in the second row - we were so close, we could see the crow's feet near her eyes, and every smile she gave.
She was a breathtaking performance, and so multi-talented - in that single night, she effortlessly switched between the harp, piano and acordian, and I'm sure she can play more. It was great though...it was obvious that she really cared for the people she played with, and they adored her in return.
The whole experience was like something out of a dream....I still can't believe it happened. ^_^

Needless to say, we got back okay....tired, but okay (we got up at 6 am in order to get back at around 10:30). I'm going to write Keith a very nice thank you note...I don't think it's appropriate to give him a twenty. :D

Anyhoo, it was perfect in every way. I had lots of fun, and I would do it all again in an instant. :D
Photos will come up hopefully soon when I grab them from Lo.

All the best,
Cady

Good Idea, Bad Idea

Blah...

Maybe watching seven straight hours of cycle one of America's Next Top Model after realizing you've gained 14 pounds isn't the best idea.

I can say I'm regretting watching eight of the most beautiful women in America parade around and effortlessly look stunning while I'm feeling....less than optimistic about my current body image.

Blah I say.

Magically Delicious

Hello~

One thing I have to say about gaming is that I love finding little....well, 'gems,' if you will. Games that no one would give a second glance that turn out to be incredibly enjoyable, and, if you're lucky, it'll become a 'sleeper hit' (which are about 80% of game titles I play...;___;).
The game in question would be Magical Starsign for the Nintendo DS. I was still working at EB when it came out, and quickly faded away, never to be spoken of again.

(Sorry if this stupid thing got published...Flash shortcuts are now embedded into my brain.)

Anyways, as I was saying, Magical Starsign came out in...oh, about January 2007.
The story revolves around a group of students at the 'Will-o-Wisp Academy of Magic' on the planet Kovomaka. Now, on a funny design note, all the planets that you visit (yes, you visit planets on a spaceship ^_^ ) all look like giant, themed, floating islands in space. *_*
My first impression playing this game was Harry Potter meets the Winx Club meets crazy space travel. You choose your main character (m/f; I of course, choose the girl), then you have your crazy, themed, elemental group of friends and fellow classmates:
Lassi: A wind magic user. She's a frumpy little, long-eared bunny girl. Kinda flakey, but really a sweet girl.
Mokka: An earth magic-using robot. *_* Mokka is, of course, the cold, calculating, sensible one.
Chai: An anthropomorphic, forest-magic-using salamander. Chai's a nice kid, bringing the 'organic' side to Mokka's more dispassionate nature.
Pico: A hot-headed, redhead fire magic weilder (who didn't see that coming?). Pico is your stereotypical adolesant male. He also likes Sorbet, but he's still in the 'girls are kinda gross stage' of his life. :3 So cute.
Sorbet: A water magic user, and the last friend you wrangle up. She's a nice girl, although a little dramatic for my taste.

At first, I complained that there was no chance for you to get to know the characters seperatly; you all start out in school. Then I found other things to complain about - the controls, the beginning story, etc.
But, I continued playing. Everyone gets seperated, so you get a lot more one-on-one time with the different characters, getting to know them.
The plot, although light-hearted, is actually a lot more mature than I thought. Through the kiddy facade lies an intricate plot, with a surprising amount of death and emotional anguish. The game also constantly pokes fun at itself, which is always something to appreciate.
Once I got past the controls and what-not, I took a look at the battle system. It's turn-based, which I like a lot more than real-time, but with the different planets going into their 'power zones', AND the constant day-night cycle (you have light magic), either you or your opponents get stronger.
All in all, I'm 17 hours in, and I'm having a blast. Considering I picked it up used for $14.99, this was one helluva buy. I highly recommend it. :D

An Exciting Oppurtunity

Interesting times ahead, huh?

There's going to be a lot going on this coming week....
1) - Hopefully, I'll find out if I'm going to have work after this show....If not, well....I'm boned. Not to mention that if I do actually get this show, I need to ask if I can take 2 1/2 weeks off in November because...
2) I'm going to Israel!! Wowee!! I need to grab myself a Canadian passport (oohh...lineups...*sob*), but it'll be so cool! I'm going along with my two roommates, one of whom is an Israeli. Considering the most exotic place I've been to is the USA, I'm really looking forward to it. Besides, we'd go when they have their...uh.."winter" (being Canadian, I use the term loosely), where it will be a chilly 25 degrees. :D
Mind you, I haven't lived through a real Canadian winter....a friend of mine from Calgary said it can get to be -60 with windchill. EEK. o_O;;
3) ....And speaking of my Israeli roomie, her birthday is coming up on Tuesday. ^_^ Happy Birthday, grandma! :P Ha ha ha ha....

Well, I'll keep everyone updated with what's going on....Well, whoever reads this thing, anyways...*sigh*
Keep well, everyone, and let's hope spring actually arrives. I think it's cab is lost.

Just a quickie~

Hello, kind citizens~ :P

Just a quick little blurb...I'm at work right now. Honestly, I love what I do. Again, how many people can say they make cartoons for a living?
The reality is, that while I adore what I do, it is hard work. I've seen people cringe (literally) when I tell them that I started on GTJ. Oh well....trial by fire. At least I'll learn lots. :D
Speaking of jobs, I also have an animation test for the second season of Pucca on Saturday...I'm wondering if my poor computer can run it...! Wish me luck!
Again speaking of jobs....*sigh* I'm so sure I didn't get that mapping job for Looking for Group. I haven't heard anything about it, but I'm sure there are a million more people who are much better than I am. :( Go fig.
One o' those weeks....

Geekin' out with style

Shout out to all you fellow gamers!

Recently, the art show exhibit called I am 8-Bit recently showed down in California....at least, I think it was CA.
Anyhoo, here's a link (thank you to Geekology www.geekology.com ). There's also a book availible; one of my friends owns it (you know who you are! ^_~ ). The stuff is kind of creepy at times, but they're really cool ideas, and it's nice to see what can be created out of the love and inspiration from retro video games.
Enjoy!

Now, all they need is a 16-bit art show....mmm.....Sonic the Hedgehog....lol

Watch out for that tree

Hello, dears.

My, my, my....it's been a busy couple of weeks for all of us, hasn't it? Whether it's final film, class, work, animating, or production coordinators quitting, everyone's got their hands full.
It's great - spring, I think, has literally exploded all over BC.
Well, the West Coast, anyways.
It's warming up quite nicely, and flowers and buds are growing...it's beautiful. And, and, I'll actually get to see it!! Hah! No more cooped up in a classroom for me! Now, I'm just...cooped up..in...an office.
*sigh*
Ah well. How many offices do you know that make fucking cartoons?
Not many, I would imagine. :D
And really - how many people can honestly say they love their job? I would say maybe the same amount of people.

Well, I'm keeping busy...I have, to this date, animated 5.18 seconds. Sadly, that's more than I made in about two weekends at my old job. Woo hoo!
Hmmm.....what else....
Now that I have full-time work like any other adult human being, I'm trying to find things to occupy my weekends and weeknights. Bellydancing is one of them...the teacher, God, she's so ninja - I need to catch her to buy my pass so I can go. :P Frustrating.
There's also a great webcomic I'm reading: www.lfg.com ....I'm not a huge WoW fan (World of Warcraft, for the not-so-game-savvy), but it's a really fun story, with really nice character designs...his expressions are amazing. They've just posted that their looking for an artist, but one who specializes in maps. I can do maps, but I certainly don't specialize in them....wah. The cool thing is that the comic is produced by Blind Ferrett Studios, located in Montreal. I've seen some of their stuff, and they do a lot of animated versions of already-exsisting webcomics. I'd love to do some freelance for them one day....^_^

Well, that's about all I've got now...I've got some art to post, but my roomie's scanner - well, her computer is having a bit of a....situation right now, so they'll have to wait. ;___;

Best to all, stay creative,
and
GO CANUCKS GO!!! XD

Attention All Poor Animators!

Music World (or at least the one at Lougheed Town Center in Burnaby) has a bargain bin filled with animation!
Well, okay, not so much filled, but today I found two dvds from somebody called 'Quality Cartoons.' The two dvds they put out were Superman Forever and Classic Cartoons: More Fun.
The Superman one is the (first?) eight episodes of the original Fleischer bros. fame, while the Classic Cartoons has sixteen different classic shorts from all walks of life. Characters include Woody Woodpecker, Mighty Mouse, Baby Huey, and a handful of shorts under 'Adventure Tales' - including the famed Dover Boys at Pimento University.
The best part? These dvds are only $4.99!
I picked up both...I mean, this is quality archival animation, here!
Have fun shopping!

Busy

Hello, everyone....
Sorry I haven't posted as regularly as I should have. Things have been hectic around here, but it's not so bad...^_^
I'm actually at work right now, and I'm having a blast.
I mean, I'm actually in the industry right now. THE animation industry.
I'm sure the novelty just hasn't worn off yet, but I'm still really excited. :D
I'll post in more detail later on...not to mention I've got some art I'd like to scan it.
Take care, everyone~

Livin' in the Sunlight

Good afternoon,
My God...if you're in the BC area, you are no doubt resisting the urge to frolick around outside, considering it's probably 5 degrees and POURING rain. Fun times. What day is it...? March 17? Hmmmm...spring is in the air, I guess. o_O;;;
Well....I have officially begun the rat race. I have my very first full-time, 9-5, Monday to Friday JOB. Also, I guess you could call it a rat-race, but somehow, I doubt the rat race is supposed to be this COOL.
I now work at the 'prestigious' Studio B, in Vancouver, British Columbia. For now, I'm an animation revisionist, but in three weeks time, I'll be officially animating. As an animator. I'm sorry - I haven't quite gotten over the novelty of it yet. :D
Honestly, I am having a blast. It's so much fun over there, the people are so nice, not to mention infinatly patient (which I'm thankful for), kind, welcoming....it's heaven. It's also hard work, but really, I wouldn't have it any other way. The facilities are great, the computers are awesome, and, well, from what I've seen, the show seems to be fairly on track, more or less. And, on a side note, the pay is amazing. Now, maybe to someone who's been in this for a while, it might be nothing (from what I've heard, Studio B pays pretty well), but you're talking to someone who, for the last year, lived on $500 a month. $316 went to rent, also. Not to mention that I've NEVER, in the five years I've been working, broke the $9.00 per hour rate. The MOST I've ever made was $8.65, and back then I was like "WOW! That's SO much money!!"
......
And benefits...! Weeeee!
Well, let's see what happens, and see how I do....I'm still really excited, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the future.
Also, thank you so much for everyone who supported me throughout the last year. It's also the little things that meant so much to me. I would not have made it this far without you. Thank you.
Love always,
Cady

Things are looking up..! ^_^

Hello, everyone.
Funny story - a bit after grad, but mostly after I got my new job ( Studio B revisionist! I'm so happy!), I felt....well, really good about myself. But, not just like, "Hey, I did a good job," but like, "Hey, I'm no longer working in mall retail, making $8.30 an hour."
To put it the best I can,
I feel like an adult.
I feel professional, confident, sexy, intelligent, and successful. Pardon the cheese, but I feel like a new chapter is opening up in my life. And considering where I live, how I'm used to living, and what I'm going to be making, I can start taking big dents out of my numerous educational debts, and really start having fun. Maybe I'll even start investing....ooohhh!!! My bank, Vancity, are just the greatest....I asked them about RRSP's a little while ago - wouldn't hurt to start saving for retirement, hmm? What, with the way this economy is going....*_*
Well, that's about all I've got for today...I'm going to get a cheap haircut, because my 'poof' is driving me NUTS.
Take care, everyone! All the best in the future~
Love,
Cady

The Presets - Girl And The Sea

Once again, thanks to the majesty of Cartoon Brew, here I present the Presets - Girl and the Sea.
I thought it was a bit hard to see, but the animation is interesting and beautiful....Personally, I love the character acting of the little girl near the end. She seems like she'll turn your way and start talking to you....

Good Omens

Hello, everyone.
Well, this is it - I'm done.
Done, done done.
My one-year course at VFS is done! ^_^ Weeee!
Grad night was really cool...I was a little choked that some of my classmates ditched us, but hey - what can you do?
Once again, I just want to say how proud I am of everyone...you guys all worked so hard throughout the year, and I wish you guys all the best in your future endevours! Viva CA63!
I don't want to count my chickens, but I also might have an interview this Friday at Studio B...! :D
We'll see what happens. Good things may come out of it! ^_^
Speaking of omens...is anyone else a little weirded out by the sudden snowfalls we're getting? Snow on Monday, and, well, I'm up east in Mission right now, where it started snowing....fifteen minutes ago? And, wow...there's a LOT of snow. o_O;;;
Be careful, residents of Mission! I know you're all terrible drivers when there's snow!!!
Take care,
~Cady

It's a Miracle!

Hello, dearies.
I've got two words - YE GODS. We're graduating tomorrow!! Waaaahhh!! I'm so excited....honestly, I totally don't know what to do with myself...I'm finishing up some little projects here and there....mostly just killing time. I've got to go grab a nice skirt for tomorrow. Hmmm....
Speaking of little jobs, my old friend Shari got me a little 'gig' - drawing Pokemon at a kid's birthday party! It was actually really fun - I brought some art supplies, and all of my old Pokemon cards (I started collecting when they FIRST came out, so I've got a bunch of really rare first-editions)....The kids got a total kick out of it. The only thing that sucked was that I was really sick. I tell ya - when it hurts even to blink, eight screaming eight-year olds don't sound too nice. :D
But really - the family was so nice, the house was clean, and everyone was so friendly. I had a blast. And hey - I made $25 an hour! Not bad!
So much has happened in the past week...and I can't even begin to write it all down.
I'll make more frequent posts in a few days.
Love,
Cady
PS - Oh! Right! Studio tours!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, my class (only four of us on Wed) went out to Studio B, Bardel, Mercury, and Monkeypaw studios. The studios were awesome, and everyone was great to talk to. But really, I had the most fun being a "tourist" with Jim (our tour guide and ex DIP instructor) and the rest of my class. We went all over Vancouver, and ate out, and bought a bunch of silly little things. Fun! :D

Graduation

Hello, everyone!
I just wanted to showcase some artwork that I did for my classes' up-coming gradutation.
I'm really proud of how it turned out...and sorry - the file is HUGE.
Take care,
Love,
Cady
PS - I'm the red-head in the middle! ^_~

Lock 'em up tight!

Hello...
I was just browsing one of my favourite websites, Penny Arcade, when I came across something....well....amusing. Apparently, FOX News Milwaukee did a report on the horrors and potential raping of your beloved children - all throught the NINTENDO DS.
Dun dun DUN!!!
You see, the DS has a built-in program called Pictochat. Pictochat is fun, silly, and for all-intensive purposes, a mini-MSN chat room. It will automatically seek out other happy DS' to connect with.
Good times to be had by all.
Now, what this report is saying is that child molesters can use this nice little feature to "lure" your children away, as mention before, for potential raping, among other things. o_O;;;
Give me a fucking break.
I WORK at an EB Games. It's part of my job to make sure that the customer knows as much about the product as necessary, for fun, safety, and cost. Why are parents so worried? In today's day and age, where wireless communication is a part of everyday life, shouldn't you have taught your kids a while ago, back a few years when MSN was becoming really popular, to BE CAREFUL? It's common sense. I mean, I'm 21. I would be weirded out if someone comes into my chatroom and starts asking me for my address, personal info and measurements.
Mom, Dad, take some responsibility. The world is not NEARLY as dangerous as FOX News makes it out to be.
"Will leaving the house make your child vulnerable to child molesters? Find out at 11."
No kidding, PA.
Take care,
Cady

Crunch Time

Hello, my sweeties. :D
Wow....you ever wake up, look at the calender, and wonder how the HELL you misplaced an ENTIRE YEAR?!
......
My class graduates in...what....about two and half weeks? Honestly, it feels like I just finished fretting about getting a student loan. Like, I know I sound corny, but, wow. This year just flew by. Four whole seasons. Twelve months! Ahhhh!!
Well, hopefully after this, I'll be able to get a job...well, a REAL job. Not that EB Games is bad, mind you - I work with wonderful people, and hey - I get to sell video games for a living. How bad could it be? But, after working this hard, I feel I'd like to challenge myself in other venues than retail customer service. Let's see how lucky I get. :D
I'm acutally having a lot of fun in Flash. I can't wait to start screwing around with it at home...fun animations! Sprite animations! Weee! Phoenix Wright spoofs, here I come!
Speaking of which, Phoenix Wright: Justice for All is a FABULOUS game! (In-game joke...heh heh.) Go out and buy it! Or borrow a DS and play it! If you play one great narrative game this year, make it PW. Seriously.
Well, I should get back to it....maybe I'll post some life drawing when I make my grad portfolio. We'll see what happens. ^_^
Take care~

Saints Row Bugs: The Musical

I actually found this on another blog, but Youtube is easier to post. More for the video gamers out there, (and any game designers too). Not to mention that the guy who made this video also wrote, sang and performed this song. He's good!
Viva Xbox 360!

Livin' the High Life

Hello, everyone.
I'm not really too sure what I wanted to talk about, but.....*happy sigh* I don't know about the rest of us, but I am having a ball sleeping in. I mean, I get up at 9:00 am, but for me that's really sleeping in! Wow! Like, this morning, my roommate was at work, and my other roomie was sleeping, so I had a nice bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese, and a big fat mug of Chai tea. Then, I sat in our little 'sitting alcove' where the sun was shining, so it was all nice and warm, with my big cup of tea....^_^
I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed.
....
Yeah. That's about it. I mean, I'm on schedule for flash, so I can take a morning to chill out. Right?
Love,
Cady

Not that bad...

Howdy, folks...
Just a quick little blurb - we just started making our final flash film, and honestly, it's not nearly as bad as I thought. Dare I say I'm even...having fun...? :3
I can't wait to animate, although I'm sure that my general attitude will change once we start.
I guess we'll see what happens...! ^_^
Take care,
Love,
Cady

The End of a LOOOONNNGGG Journey

Hello, everyone.
Goodness...I haven't been posting as often as I'd like, but I've been very busy, you see....

I'M DONE MY FINAL FILM!!!
HURRRAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weeeeee!! I'm so happy! Honestly, it's a little anti-climactic, but I'm still very excited!!
Of course, we hit the ground running this weekend - yay Flash 8....:P I'm a little worried, but hey - crash courses are a good way to learn, right? It's not like we knew what we were doing when we were doing our classical film...^_^;;;
Well, I'm off to make a nice shiny Quicktime....see you around!
Love,
Cady

Adventure Time

Adventure Time
Created by Pendleton Ward
A Random! Cartoons short for Nickelodeon

I found this cartoon on Cartoon Brew, another great animation blog site. This is the sweetest animated short I've seen in a long time!
What time is it? ADVENTURE TIME!!

It's been a while

Hello, my dears.
Goodness...it's been a while, huh? We're on our last couple of days of Final Film. The deadline is looming, and it's a scary feeling. I mean, hell, not counting my chickens, but I'm almost done, and I'm still freaking out!
But, everyone has been working so hard...I can't say how proud I am of everyone.
I unfortunatly don't have a lot to say....except maybe keep warm. *_* We just got a massive dump of snow, and now it's all frozen over. It's pretty crazy.
Well, I think I'm gonna go home and grab some tea....
Lastly, enjoy the video I just threw on.
Adventure Time!!!
Love,
Cady

30 Shorts for 30 Days

Hello, everyone.
First off, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas/Channukah, and all the best to you in 2007.
To the hard-working animators in my class - home stretch, guys! This is our LAST TERM!! Holy crap! *_*
Now, while looking for a good Flash tutorial (that program is fucking IMPOSSIBLE to understand!!), I revisited a wonderful flash site - Bitey Castle. He used to have great tutorials....I wonder where they went.... :(
Anyways, apparently he started his own little animation marathon titled '30 Shorts for 30 Days.' Each flash short ranges from 5-30 seconds, and is literally about anything and everything. This man is probably the greatest flash animator I've seen yet, so this, along with the award-winning Bitey of Brackenwood series, is definatly worth a look.
All the best in the new year!
Love,
Cady
PS - 'Stroll' is my personal favourite. :D
